The Echea Story
How I got here.
I started out as an actor. I trained seriously — classes, coaches, print work, short films — and worked the airline industry alongside it. Between actors moving in for auditions and crew chasing layovers, a lot of people in that world needed a place to land in New York. So I started running crash pads — multiple apartments, room by room, sublet to people who needed somewhere between gigs. I wasn’t paying rent. I was making money. And I recognized something before I ever had a license: real estate produces income on its own.
The most important thing I took from acting had nothing to do with performing. On the first day of class, my coach said: “Acting isn’t acting. Stop acting. Be present.” That is the rule I brought into every client relationship I’ve had since.
I got my Florida license in 2009. The moment the work truly clicked happened on a Saturday morning in Boca — walking into a beautiful home off the waterways and feeling it clearly. “I love my life and I love what I’m doing. I have this key to something so many people don’t.”
Blue Ridge began as somewhere we wanted to go. Not a strategy. A place close enough to reach, far enough from the heat, with seasons. We bought property, started doing luxury rentals. A mentor at Compass watched what we were building, called me up, and told me it would be brilliant if I opened an office. I had no thought of that until he said it. In 2019, I did.
The practice grew from there.
I’d always been drawn to architecture and design — how a home is built, the materials, the way a structure sits on its land. For years that was a parallel interest, not a profession. Real estate turned out to be the final piece — the work that let me live the lifestyle I’d already chosen and advise the people who would own these homes next.
What I’m drawn to in a property has always been the land first — the relationship between a home and the ground it sits on. That sensibility runs through everything we do in North Georgia. The mountain corridor has a particular character that reminds me of the world you see in Succession or Yellowstone: land-focused, intentional, built around how you actually want to live. That’s the buyer we work with most, and it’s the lifestyle I already live.
When you work with us, you get the standard I built — carried by a team I personally trained and coached to work the way I do.

What I won’t negotiate
Three things.
The framework, regardless of the list price.
01
Understanding
I own in both markets. Local expertise is a Saturday morning on my own porch — not a credential on a card.
02
Showing up
I train and coach every team member to work exactly the way I do. Whether I’m at the property or someone from my team is, the client stays in contact with me. The standard doesn’t flex — who delivers it sometimes does.
03
Staying
Check-ins nobody asked for. Voice texts months later. The closing is the beginning — nearly every new client I take on comes from a client I’ve already served.
The Thomas Standard
What I actually do, every time.
Six habits you’ll see on every transaction — North Georgia or South Florida, first purchase or fourth. Not a checklist. Just how I work.
01
Personal presence
Thomas, Laura, or a team member is at every showing — personally trained and coached, never proxied. With Thomas one call away. A home deserves someone who is actually there, not a lockbox and a prayer.
03
No lockbox
No lockbox on a listing means no unattended walkthroughs, no buyers wandering a home without representation, and no seller left wondering what the feedback actually was.
05
Every showing prepared
Fire laid. Music low. Candles lit. I prepare every home before buyers arrive — never leaving a property to make its own first impression.
02
Weekly updates, in writing
Every seller hears from me once a week in writing — every week, even in quiet weeks. Silence breeds doubt. A written note with market context beats a call you’ll forget by Thursday.
04
Active property care
For second-home clients, I check the property every ten days while you’re away. Photos. A short note. Anything unusual, flagged. The house doesn’t go quiet just because you did.
06
Post-close relationship
Check-ins nobody asked for. Voice texts months later. Restaurant recommendations in the new neighborhood. The transaction ends at closing. The relationship doesn’t.
The other side of the standard
What I won’t do.
Show and disappear
Leaving buyers to walk a property without representation is a statement about how much you value the relationship. I’m not making that statement.
Transactional follow-up
Birthday emails from a CRM. Clients can feel the difference between a reminder and a relationship.
Commission-driven negotiation
Advice that serves my fee over your outcome. If the deal isn’t right for you, I’ll say so — before the contract, not after.
